Police in Lake Stevens, Washington, have arrested a couple after finding three children cold, alone and locked inside a filthy house. Authorities were called to the home on January 31 after someone noticed the kids alone inside a dirty home, according to police.
When police arrived, they found three children, ages 7, 3 and 11 months, alone inside a house that was locked from the outside. According to court documents, police found the home “in extreme disarray and dirty,” with no food or heat.
“It was difficult to breathe inside the residence due to the ammonia-type smell of urine and other stenches such as feces and rotting food,” according to the probable cause affidavit. The 11-month-old baby boy was found locked in a room separate from the other two children, alone with a body temperature of just 94.1 degrees, according to officers who were on the scene.
